Yo Daniel, I love marioKart I also used to play it on the nintendo DS, I remember all the boys gathering and just screaming at the DSs, it was very competitive. Its mad to see how much mario games have evolved, it went from a game of poor graphics on nintendo to it being available on all platforms. Keep it up!
This weeks unity Tutorial was pretty hefty. This week we made a short action game where the player runs and jumps over obstacles. The tutorials were easy enough to keep up with but were definitly time consuming. From the first 2 tutorials I definitely learnt more about Rigid body and spawning it helps that they've been covered in 2 tutorials now. With every tutorial he still covers the basics so its nice that he keeps going over things it makes the learning process earlier. In The Third tutorial we created another script that we were able to create a soundtrack for our game. The first tutorial was all about making the player Jump In our C sharp script we made our player jump up and down on the y axis. We also scripted the fence to spawn and move left. The second tutorial was creating a script that made the background repeat itself this combined with the left moving and spawning fences gives the player the feeling that they are quickly moving through their scene. The fi...
Finding papers for this week was pretty difficult I had initially been using the college library website but I then switched to using google scholar which I found a lot more effective I was able to find papers a-lot faster. I find that in a lot of papers that I look at on my topic there’s a fair bit of repetition. So I decided to mind map my topic and expand it a bit so I would have more success in diversifying my writings. So this week I read a paper that looked at games as a meaningful experience. They conducted a test on two groups of people to examine the perceptions of enjoyable and meaningful video games. another hot topic that I decided to look into was the emotional and psychological aspect of first person shooter games and the reactions to the violence. Another paper I read read was about the physical interactions the player has with a machine. The vibrations of the controller the reactions caused from pressing the buttons to the sound effects linked with these thin...
The First article I read was "Be a Mirror" by Gravity Goldberg. shorturl.at/jrwFO As a person that wouldn't know how to approach giving feedback. I received a number of tips from this article that will make it a lot easier. 1. Be a mirror. When giving feedback its important to reflect back on the work that is there not the work that is not there. So reflect back on what has been done not what is missing. 2. Focus on the process. 3. Take yourself out go the equation. It is important when giving feedback that you make sure it doesn't turn personal this can be done by removing phrases such as "I think" and "personally" With "when you" This keeps the attention away from you. The second article I read was "how to give feedback without being a jerk" By Adam Grant shorturl.at/vI136 From reading this article there were a few tips that I think are very valuable when it comes to giving feedback because they give many different approach...
